This week wasn’t perfect but it was purposeful. I started by pitching Hagbad to Simon Squibb. Not in a polished suit or a boardroom, just me, explaining why our communities need an app that reimagines hagbad and ayuuto systems with trust, culture, and care. Whether it leads to anything or not, that moment mattered. It’s easy to sit on an idea, but saying it out loud especially in front of someone like Simon makes it real. Then came beta tester calls. These conversations are gold. Not just market research real people, real stories. Some were quiet, watching carefully, asking the kind of questions that make you realise you need to slow down and listen more. Others were animated, excited, talking about how this could help their mum, their cousin, their local masjid. That kind of feedback keeps me going. But it wasn’t all momentum. We hit setbacks. Technical ones we didn’t anticipate. UX that didn’t make sense once it was in someone’s hands. A few things broke when they shouldn’t have. And I’m not going to pretend I handled it all gracefully there were moments I felt overwhelmed, moments I questioned if I’m doing it right. I’m learning that building something meaningful means constantly rebuilding, rechecking, and rewiring. Still, we keep moving. I’m not here to pretend it’s all smooth. I want to show what it really looks like to build a startup from the ground up especially as someone without a technical cofounder, deep funding, or a massive network. Just faith, community, and stubborn belief in the vision. I’m building something that could genuinely change the way we view trust, money, and community care. And I want to do it in a way that stays rooted in our culture from the aunties who held it down with ayuuto back home, to the younger generation who’ve never heard of it but desperately need access to something better than payday loans and bad credit traps. This app isn’t the end goal it’s the beginning. A launchpad for ethical finance, rooted in deen, fairness, and legacy. So yeah this week was a lot. But it was real. And I’d rather share the imperfect journey than fake a polished one. We’re closer than we were last week. And that’s enough for now. #Hagbad #somalitiktok #techtok #startup #mindsetmotivation
