Yes the code is 6 inches. but most electricians learn that the first day in the job.

Rule to follow people, 6 inches from point of entry OR 4 inches pass the opening of the box WHATEVER IS LONGEST. Hope this helps or buy the NEC book.

20yrs in the trade, owner. I was taught "hand and thumb". grab the wires at the box and extend your thumb and cut at end of thumb. perfect length
