@leaderofthepacklv: The purpose of all obedience training is to help your dog become more self regulating and reliable. “Structured training” is the training with which you teach your dog how to respond or behave in a particular situation or situations with different applicable distractions. This is also where 90% of the rewarding and reinforcement happens. “Real life scenarios” are where you and your dog apply what was learned. Accountability is the biggest factor. with or without food or the promise of a reward, your dog must do as taught and told. The more you have structured training that is 100% focused on a specific goal in a particular situation, the more you can rely on your dog to self regulate and respond accordingly. Ultimately, this is what we all strive for. A dog who “knows better”.
