So I wanted to share this reel after a post I’m preparing about the lore and character background, but it’s turning out to be longer than I thought. I’ll explain a few things here tho! Even though it’s a silly video, the context is a bit sad 🥲 🔸CHARACTER BACKGROUND At the beginning of the story, Dahlia is 22 years old and Ulmer is 25. They come from very different backgrounds, as Dahlia has been studying at The Academy of Nexus since she was 16, the most important national academic institution, surrounded by children of the most powerful families in the country. And although she got a scholarship and doesn’t come from an average family, she has adapted to live among those people. Ulmer, on the other hand, comes from a disadvantaged region of Nexus (called Libehco), where its colonial past is still felt today. Not only does being born there mean having a high chance of living in poverty, but also being marginalized by other social classes or regions of the country. When they meet (for various reasons I will not explain 🤫), they have the common goal of overthrowing the current order/government of Nexus, but that’s not enough to obscure the differences that separate them due to the very different realities they come from. In fact, Dahlia was so used to being surrounded by wealthy people that she forgot what people from less privileged backgrounds look like: more tired and older. That’s why she thought Ulmer was older (but my girl went too far by adding +10 years). 🔴 More context about Ulmer because why not? The whole point of his character lies in the fact that he’s a rebel, someone who wants to change the government of the Empire to the Republic, infiltrating the system as a police officer. I’ll talk more about the police enforcers in the future because it’s quite interesting, but for now I wanted to focus on the mental and physical consequences of living a double life in a place that’s hostile to you, while living surrounded by people with ideals you hate and fight against. Maybe all that stress is contributing to his age lol Also, if he has a different outfit than the one in the previous video, it's because it's the police outfit worn underneath the full uniform. I'll add the full design in the lore post! PS: Dahlia and Ulmer will always take the slightest opportunity to mess with each other.
