@themodernfarmhouseri: Proper sanding method for stain ⬇️ ➡️ If its solid wood start with 80 grit to remove old finish and stain ➡️ Follow with 120 grit and pass over the entire piece again ➡️ Finish with 220 grit to smooth but nothing higher than 220 as that will seal the grain and prevent stain from soaking in ➡️ Remember to hand sand with 220 after your last orbital sanding pass to avoid swirls and ALWAYS tack cloth or vaccum in between passes! ⭐️ If you’re working with veneer, its best to start with a higher grit (I usually start with 120 but sometimes 220 if its been stripped) and follow the same method above!
