@otmarissa: The Moro reflex 👶🏻 also known as the startle reflex, is a primitive reflex present at birth. It typically integrates by 3-6 months of age with no intervention needed. These are simply ways to help activate your baby’s vestibular system and allow them to acclimate to positional changes, which may help integrate their Moro reflex. When activated by a sudden movement or sound, baby’s arms will spread out wide and then come back to their chest. Newborns may cry as part of the response. This reflex is important for development and we want to see it active in newborns 0-12 weeks. After that, we want to see it gradually disappear or integrate. Once baby turns 3 months we can gently help the reflex integrate through lots of floor time and any type of movement activity as seen in this video. #PediatricOT #MoroReflex #InfantDevelopment #occupationaltherapy #reflexintegration
