You forget to tell him about the ice coupons. You can apply for them once you’ve landed at any airport in the UK. Just ask at immigration. Each coupon entitles you to 2 lumps of ice in your drink instead of one.

my dad is from spain. when we lived there my mom had to explain to daycare workers what germs were and to not share food /utensils between sick kids because they legit thought that cold causes illness

I can't stand the difference between indoor/outdoor temperature in the South USA, but they need to bump the A/C up a little where I am now (Budapest). Something in between the 2 would be perfect.
