One of my eyes is -2.5 astigmatism in one eye - 1.0 in other , long and short sight fine till in my fifties then just reading glasses for small print, why is my eyesight not blurry?

I have -2.00 in one eye and it's also close sighted and god I get such terrible headaches from it and thankfully the other eye is -.75 and long sighted so I've been able to go without glasses
