I used to let my kids walk to school 30+ years ago but in a very small town. I wouldn't do this again in the same town. So much has changed!

When I was seven years old, I was riding my bike everywhere all over the neighborhood. My mom didn’t know where I was till I came home at seven or 8:00 PM for dinner. Lol! The state in the law are way too involved in our lives. I will say, though the world is not as safe as it was. Back in the 80s when I was little there were definitely risks being out on your own however it was rare. Not like today. I feel bad for this mom.

In my state, if kids live within 1 mi of school they’re expected to walk to school & do not get a bus. Soooo… why is that ok, but not this??
