Those 3rd party apps are nuts. I had one I booked saying it’s 30min from where I needed to be. Half that drive was IN Lake Michigan so it would have been a 2 hour drive.

I use 3rd party sites for my initial research (what hotels are in the area, which ones have the best rates, etc.,), then go to the direct sites to make my final decision and book.

Same thing for airfare. If flight is oversold, 3rd party tickets will be removed for passengers that booked with airline.

The amount of times I had to deal with this exact situation and got blamed for “booking the wrong date” even though they booked themselves through a third party is insane 🤦♀️

um any hotel can cancel a reservation, and try and find a better deal or similar deal and match and have the person pay via credit with dmg deposit. which means the hotel would get all the money and not pay a percentage to the booking site... (I ran front desk for 3 years and that's what we did.)
