@jroyce02: Clips are not necessary for a loc retwist, even if you’re not going to style the hair after the retwist! I’ve been doing locs for quite awhile now and I’ve learned a lot over the years. Metal honestly isn’t the best thing for locs in the first place. Utilizing multiple different tools also slows down the process and lengthens the time clients are in the chair. In this industry; time is money! Simply retwisting the locs and looping it around its base is good enough when you’re going to do a style afterwards anyway. Try it out for your next retwist and time yourself!
