@moneywiselawyer: They can, I’d be surprised if they didn’t, and it would not be fun #studentloans #studentloanlawyer #moneywiselaw @The College Investor
They could just drop the interest and let us pay them. Most ppl can pay their loans if the interest wasn’t exponentially growing them. Let us pay the amount we borrowed and call it a day

I would argue fraud. People would not have taken out the loan if they knew it would wind up with a private lender/collector. If people wanted that, they could have gotten the loan privately to start

the proposed bill just transfers the responsibility of the loan to the Dept of Treasury.

If the loans are not profitable, where is the $85,000 I’ve paid so far on my $45,000 worth of loans ( I currently owe $23,000 or so)?

Also fun that they’re dismantling the CFPB so debt collectors have less repercussions for their actions…

they already changed them to a different loan servicer. last year my loans were no longer serviced by the DOE, they are now with Nelnet. what was that then?

Can people who are PSLF lose that program or will we be grandfathered? Does estoppel doctrine kick in if they try to go back against the contract we signed (MPN)

the 4th question and is a BIG one, if the loans are sold to private collections, do they stop accruing interest? because this could have advantages too if they do

It doesn't say your loan is with the federal gov. It says it's with the dept of edcuation. If the dept of education is dissolved, that changes the loan paperwork - which is void at that point.

If it doesn’t change the terms, how can they get rid of the IDR, IBR, public service forgiveness and the 20/25 year forgiveness? All of this was available when I took out the loans and was an option
