@katieeidem: As someone who’s struggled the most with javelin out of any other event, here are a couple of cues that have made the biggest difference in my throws ⬇️ 1️⃣ It’s all about the direction of the throw - Keep the left shoulder closed and think about throwing more towards the right side of the sector. That will keep the javelin from turning sideways in the air ✈️ 2️⃣ Follow through with your hand facing out - This is another trick to keep the javelin from turning sideways in the air. A proper follow through is the finishing touch to keep the javelin headed in the right direction 🧭 3️⃣ Throw it flat - Trying to sky the throw causes the nose of the javelin to tip up and the tail to get low. When you release it like that the javelin will be closer to perpendicular to the ground and it won’t go very far. By thinking about keeping it flat, you’ll be able to throw it at a much better angle and set the javelin up for a better flight pattern allowing it to go further 📐 These are just a few cues that have really helped me throw better! If you’re a thrower and have some other helpful cues in mind, leave them in the comments!! 💬 #track #trackandfield #javelin #javelinthrow
As a heptathlete that just started doing track you are the person I look up to

the less time you spend sitting on your rear foot and exploding through your hips you'll probably see more gains. also think about taking your left elbow and trying to graze the outside of your hip when you throw. quick observation. Gl this season
