Respectfully, it is not some phenomenon due to the topography, it’s bc the fed government owns more land in Nevada than any other state. Clark county & Washoe county are the most populated urban areas

they tried to give away land a long time ago no one wanted it and they couldn't farm it . thats one reason why almost the whole stae of Nevada is owned by the feds. very little privately owned land
