Gorilla doesn’t have a 100% hit chance if you’re using d&d rules, he has a 95% hit chance, as a Nat 1 always misses.

I think a more simulationist RPG would yield better results. GURPS for example, the line editor of which has a PhD in Physics (and yes, that is why GURPS is like that).

LordMooy :
it's not a giant gorilla though. it's just a normal one. the giant one also ups it's damage because it's bigger than a normal gorilla

Ruby fox :
i think realistically the gorilla wouldn't have cleave

The issue here is if you knock out one man with an attack and have 10 damage left that 10 wouldn’t carry.

Kaleb Branch :
You’re not giving the men pack tactics so they roll with advantage?

dantose :
1. giant ape doesn't have cleave
2. giant ape is huge
3. even at large, there's 12 spots around that, not 10.
4. commoners hit on 12, so it's 45% to hit
actual math to follow:

this ignores fatigue.

They do not have %100 to hit. You can always critically fail. Also what about full defensive? Dodge. Etc

DauntlessBound :
Unarmed strike is actually 1 D4 damage

Gokussparringpartner1 :
Your also assuming no stamina decreases for the gorilla

This also isn’t taking into account the humans using their brain to go for weak spots, like the eyes, ears and nose

🚥ChaoticZ8🚦 :
He wouldn’t be able to hit 11 guys a round only 10 because of range , commoners have AVERAGE 4 (1d8) hp not 4 and you are forgetting about pack tactics and flanking rules

eCooCoo :
Did you include stamina? I don’t play D&D so I’m not sure exactly how it works but the gorillas stamina has to be low

Spence :
this assumes after each round, the commoners that saw what happened don't run for their lives. it ends much sooner.

PhoenixZer0 :
So there is no stamina in D&D? How fast does a large beast fatigue?

Frenchy :
wrong stat block, buffed it further by reducing its size and increasing its hit chance, also gave it cleave for some odd reason.

I don’t think a gorilla is a large beast, it’s basically the size of a human

nikuldaks :
cleave is too generous plus this calculations doesn't take into account fatigue and morale (hindering both sides)

Evan :
Are you accounting for flanking? What about if the commoners weave in and out, allowing all of them to attack every turn, while giving the Gorilla an attack of opportunity without cleave

Leafar :
weakest version of humans and king kong stats. in all this time the “unarmed” why, say they start unarmed first ten circle it others grab rocks, trees, anything they can. it’s what made humans apex

Gorilla has 95% chance to hit. Nat 1 is still a crit fail/miss. Makes a difference, although not a big one…
