@modernhomestead: So we just filled the pool and the water is 55deg Fahrenheit roughly 13 Celsius so it's really cold, decided to fire up the diy pool Heater and we got the pool to 72deg Fahrenheit or 22 Celsius with 3/4 of a tank of propane in 8h. The covers on it but we have a frost advisory tonight so it's gonna be hard to keep the heat. #modernhomestead #homestead #homesteading #DIY #pool #heater

To be 100% honest, those aren’t ball valves

15 degree delta at about 8GPM is pretty terrible for a pool that size. You need to up your flow rate, increase your surface area on your heat exchanger or get a larger heat exchanger.

So just a roll of copper line and have ball valves and put above a propane heater. Awesome. Now I need a pump.

my dad did this when I was a kid. piped it underground, and into our fire pit. it was great. made the mistake of not opening the valves one time and we had steam coming up from the patio blocks.🤣

remove the outlet valve on the heater, dangerous if it gets closed with no relief valve.
