If the leading cause of preventable death in children 1-4 is drowning, then insurance should pay for swimming lessons because at that point it’s preventitive health care.

This has smacked me out of complacency at my house..reinforced my pool gate lock, added a camera with Alexa alerts through the house and a bought a sensor for the pool gate.. I was getting too comfortable! Never again!

I argue this constantly. I have never and will never let my kids use a flotation device! My boy is 3.5 and can swim independently and those swim lessons will not be cancelled until he can navigate a rip and do a solid swim stroke. So important 👏🏼

Yeah no- I have 3 kids. ALL wore puddle jumpers . My big kids learned to swim completely by 3. Rule is NO taking off floatie in pool area ever.

My daughter did the same thing when she was 3 but hadn’t been wearing a floatation device. She said she saw the big kids swimming and just thought she could do the same.

I’ve been doing swim lessons with my baby from 6 weeks old. They always say it is far safer for you to just hold them, no floats.

I truly believe all floatation devices give this false sense. Not just paddle jumpers! Bc we had the same scenario with my daughter but she used to use a life vest & she believed she could swim bc it kept her up.

ISR is worth every single penny and every single second of time!!! So if you’re considering it, do it! 10/10 recommend. My 1st baby did it and my 2nd baby is starting it in June. The skills learned are immeasurable!

My rule is in the pool you are going to be with mom or dad in our arms out of the pool you get your flotation device on because if you fall then it will keep you afloat but in the pool you don’t need it cause you’re gonna be with mom or dad.
