Sirens needed to die, in order to ensure the crew and Odysseus are safe. But there was no safety in the slow death and painful they would find themselves in. The message was clear, Odysseus became a monster. This was not doing what was right for the good of his crew, but pure unbridled wrath. IMO he took his pain out on the sirens because he couldn’t do it to the gods

why are there so many people in the comments trying to defend the sirens. They are literally depicted as monsters in mythology and in the song before this, they tried to kill odysseus using his desperation for his wife as a lure. Thats pretty cruel on its own

The Sirens have murdered hundreds to probably thousands of innocent sailors to be who were either eaten alive or drown to death. Siren’s don’t eat humans for food making it even more cruel & unnecessary. They reaped what they sowed.

why do people not understand, their death is MEANT to paint Odysseus in a bad light. uts to show how much of a monster he became after he left the underworld. this is also apparent in the next song where he sacrificed 6 of his men to Scylla, Odysseus from the begging would never do that
