@katie0hara: ANYTHING outside of Gods design will lead to brokenness. That includes an abusive relationship, manipulation, lying, cheating, ALL OF IT. So this is not to say any of that is better. If it is outside Gods design, it will always be less than ideal. We have ALL experienced this. We are ALL broken.
