Islam has more converts because it has the easiest conversion process. All you have to do is recite a prayer and suddenly you’re Muslim. To become Catholic you have to take classes, be baptized, be confirmed and have your first communion.

I understand this and agree to an extent, but I also think it’s because it’s very sanitised in the West, and Western people can romanticise it’s mystery and the different lifestyle it provides

that’s not why. muslims are very invested in recruiting new muslims and they put a lot of effort into it unlike the other two. has nothing to do with simplicity

Islam is simple. You don’t need to go through mental gymnastics to understand it.

As a Christian, I really like how you described Christianity's importance of Mysteries, because it is a key component of the religion. God is not meant to be fully understood by humans and it accepts it, but we will one day be told all the secrets and mysteries of God and the world. Even the book of revelation is a book of mysteries.

Also, Islam has a very simple, logical message: one God, many prophets. The nice thing about Islam is that it establishes itself as universal and existing since the beginning of time. It is actually more suspicious when a religion claims it “has the truth” while forgetting everyone who came before and wasn’t able to be “saved”. Islam doesn’t have this issue because it says that everyone who followed their messenger and worshiped one God is a "submitter” (A.K.A the literal definition of what a Muslim is). That’s why Abraham, Noah, Moses, Jesus, etc. are all called “Muslims” because they all followed Islam, or submission to God.

Christianity is hard to understand because it's not a man made religion. when something is man made it's built for man to understand. When something is God made it's built only for those who are with the said God to fully comprehend and understand. An example of this is the trinity. People outside of Christianity find it to be a hard concept to grasp because they do not have the God needed to understand it. This is why Christians aren't really confused by it, because the God who made it gives us the understanding. The same concept of God dying, many can't understand this but we can because God is all powerful and God can in fact die and rise should He desire to, and a misconceptions about Christianity is that "God came down as a human to kill Himself to save us from Himself." which is wrong it's "God came down as Human to offer Himself up to mankind and serve mankind and die for mankind to save us from Satan."

I also think part of it may have to do with the difficulty of the conversion process. In Islam you can say the shahada and then you’re Muslim. However the conversion process for Judaism takes years, requires studying, meeting with rabbis, immersing in a mikvah etc. Even the conversion processes for Orthodox Christianity and Catholicism require taking classes, studying, and baptism before you can be considered Christian.

I would argue the simplicity is what makes is more accessible for everyone. There is immense amounts of beauty in philosophy, however not everyone has an interest or is even well versed enough to understand deeply philosophical topics. It’s very simple and people still misunderstand it so imagine if it wasn’t simple💀

I agree with this take. Although I wouldn’t say there’s “no complexities”, as there’s always complexity with religious interpretation. But maybe the common approach in Islam is to kind of “solidify” things that are metaphorical or that are up to interpretation to make a more homogeneous belief system within the community.

people turn to religion for peace of mind. they want simple answers to explain complex phenomena in the universe and about human existence. it provides order in an otherwise entropic and cruel world. it’s no wonder that the simplest and direct of the abrahamic religions has the most converts. 1/2
