👇🏻Here’s exactly how I use it every day (and a tip): Wants to play a new activity? “First pick up what’s out/ what was just played with, then we can start the new activity” “first pick up the trucks, then we can play playdoh” Wants to play outside? “First get on sunscreen, then we can go to the park” Wants to eat a cookie? “First we have to eat dinner, then we can have a cookie!” TIP: you have to act like it’s no skin off your back if they say they don’t want to or delay doing it - that’s totally fine, but before we X, we first have to Y. Then go busy yourself. No sweat to you if you don’t go outside or play playdoh! Don’t engage in the power struggle! TIP 2: it’s even easier if we make it really concrete what we *need* them to do 👉🏻 so instead of “first pickup your toys” try “first pick up 5 toys” or “first pick up the trucks” TIP 3: it’s not going to work / be motivating if the “then” isn’t what your child is asking to do or have - like saying “first get on your shoes, then we’re going to school” isn’t going to work if school isn’t something they’re exciting to do I hope this was helpful!
