@junothewizzard: help me find a gourmand for me and help me choose a book to read do i read anna karenina or chronicles of narnia? whats a good gourmand that has dark chocolate or spice or maple syrup or amber or riceor bread? #fraghead #nichefragrance #BookTok #BookRecommendations #perfumetiktok
Have you tried Black Phantom from Kilian? I don’t usually like gourmands or overly sweet scents in general, but this one stole my heart. Smells like coffee and dark chocoate with a touch of spices, very recommend sampling it 🫶

Nostalgic and comforting for me is Chocolat by Joanne Harris! I also find the Dr. Greta Helsing series by Vivian Shaw comforting , just with the additions of vampires and other ghouls. A gorgeous tea scent that really grounds me and fills me with positivity and warmth is Moon Magic by Sorce. Also shout out to Pas de Chat by Odette Parfum Co which will be a comforting scent for any cat lover 🥰

Fzotic’s Recent limited release, Deixis, is a dark, bittersweet choco-amber w vanilla and incense. My Mushmallow is a comfort go-to. Savory, herbal into dirt and vanilla custard. Bear by Wolf Bros is an cinnamon:ginger:orris-dusty, not-too-sweet honey.

I love Stolas from Fantôme when I need a comfort scent. It has blueberry, lavender, and dark chocolate. It’s really unique and dark, and to me, it smells like the night sky.

it's not chocolatey and not even really gourmand, but if you want a woodier, more gourmand version of something like warm bulb, my all time favorite comfort scent (and all time favorite scent for layering) is sandalwood temple by sana jardin

When I need something comforting, I go for those dark and resinous scents. I need a lot of pressure on my body to feel comfortable so I also need my perfume to provide deep pressure in a different sensorial way.

This is such a good question, I love Alice in wonderland 🦋 I want to be comfy in clothes and just make art and yummy food some nice tea. Have you tried Eau Duelle? Or roses and bread by pearfat? Book hopscotch by Julio Cortázar or any magical realism 🦋

It’s always a coffee fragrance for me. Falling stars from sorce or Follow by Kerosene. But I love sweet! I don’t think follow is sweet but my daughter does.

I'm currently reading Picture of Dorian Grey and yeah, I wonder what kind of perfumes this dude would wear. Different perfumes for Dorian's decline 👀

idk if you’ve tried poesie yet but village bakery and madar are two of my all time fave gourmands! madar is a super warm and cozy rice pudding with cardamom and saffron and village bakery is photorealistic yeasty and very slightly sweet milk bread

I adore this question! When I'm craving melancholic comfort, I tend to lean toward The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake. For childhood comfort specifically, I like A Wrinkle in Time and The Wizard of Oz. For fragrances, I love tea scents, I find them so soothing. Especially Rain Tea, so honeyed and balmy 🫶

most comforting scent to me is my girlfriend’s bottle of warm bulb!! i feel like despite it being sort of electric it has that dark warmth to it!! and my comfort read is short talks by anne carson! kind of a heady read, but her writing just feels like being so intimately involved in someone else’s thinking.

Watership Down and Charlotte’s Web are so nostalgic/heartwarming to me! For perfume, maybe Patchouli in Rye (bready) or Pas de Chat (musky animalic gourmand)

Tea scents are my comfort scents! And I love the chronicles of Narnia! My favorite nostalgia comfort read is probably Howl’s Moving Castle. And the next cozy weird book I have on my TBR is Someone You can Build a Nest In…

I make a rice scent that is a little darker- it has olibanum, tuberose, patchouli in it. When I prepare your mushroom one, I’ll throw that in there for you. It’ll be in the Eau de Terror line.

For books, I find Frederick Backman comforting, and always Jane Austen. Strangely enough I also found Legends and Lattes comforting.

What about The Borrowers? All four of those books are collected in one giant paperback as I recall. I devoured those as a preteen and a teenager. Absolutely love them.

Read Anna Karenina! I’m reading it too and love. I also think you’d love the Maya Njie discovery set—specifically Vanilj is a great spicy gourmand. Also Banane au Chocolat by Teddy the perfumer is a beautiful chocolate. It has a surprising patchouli note that hits just right.
