I have a hidden disability and have been screamed at for using the disabled toilets. I am young so people assume I don't have a disability.

even in my wheelchair I'll get "aren't you a little young to be disabled?" Or "you don't wanna be using a wheelchair" as if I'm choosing having limited access to society over using a perfectly-abled body

Having an invisible disability is such a double edged sword. It’s beneficial to fit in if you can hide it, but as soon as you need accessibility tools you are heavily judged for it or accused of faking🫠

I have cancer, but because I didn’t lose my hair and go all gaunt, it’s not obvious, i’ve been challenged twice regarding my blue badge - why do people assume you have to be wheelchair bound or something to be “disabled enough” for them 😩

Me with my visual impairment. I’m blind in my left eye and I can’t see further than two meters in my right eye but I don’t ’look blind’. Whatever that means 💋

My girlfriend has literally been shouted at and "called out" because she can move her legs slightly and therefore "couldn't possibly need a wheelchair"

I have a theory: people that accuse the vulnerable as manipulative or liers are manipulative and liers themselves. This applies to people not believing disability, or when a child needs care, or any pet asks for food or cuddles.

I think this could also be whatever the opposite of pretty privilege is. because you're attractive (slim, makeup on, usually dress nice) people assume you can't have a disability.

I was laughed at by teachers during a charity hike. I have problems with my ankles and back then I wasn’t able to walk well on uneven ground at all. I was the last person down and left without teachers. I went over my ankles maybe 13? Times and I told some teachers that passed me sitting down “I’m struggling to walk down because I keep going over my bad ankle” and they said I was too young to have a “bad ankle”

i have spina bifida, and in college i have to use the lifts sometimes when my legs don’t work 😂 and one time a tutor challenged me about it and then asked me to prove it, i replied with do you want me to show you my spine? and he gave me a stinking look and got out 2 floors early 🙈

Do you wear your calipers 24/7? genuine question, cause in Norway its not normal to wear shoes inside, dont know if it is in other countries, but do you also use it in general in your own home?

I have never understood people who straight up go “you’re not x” . like what if youre wrong? why do you think you know so much more about strangers than you do? this applies to mental illness as well like “you dont have ocd” why do they say it with such confidence? it’s so bizarre because the rudeness catches you off guard lol

person w cochlear implants here - I have good speech and you can't see the implants from my front profile, so people often forget I'm deaf and it can be really hard to hear sometimes 😭
