It makes me think of the way people reacted to Wendell and Wild. Is that movie perfect? Definitely not, but a lot of people zeroed in on Kat being ‘bratty’ and saying that she wasn’t a good mc because of that while actively ignoring the fact that her parents died in a car accident (one that she was also apart of) at the age of 8 and was then immediately thrust into foster care only to end up going to juvie (again at 8) which led to her going in and out of juvie until she was 13 and sent to the place where the movie was set.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but from what I've heard about it so far, it kinda reminds me a bit of the original Lilo and Stitch. Ironically enough lmao.

I really liked that Elio was flawed and has development also in his mistakes not just in his self-esteem. You hit the nail on the head, Elio does the “mean” things like use the guy for the radio because of how much he hates his life on earth.

People only write bad reviews because they just hate anything that’s not centered around white characters. Objectively Elio was a great movie and if it wasn’t the fact that he was a poc it wouldn’t be getting this much hate.

Disney and Pixar should have done more to promote this movie, it is so good!!! I took my kids and they adored it and I cried!

when I watched elio I weirdly felt seen and I loved that near the end it the idea of how grigon and olga really accepted both of their kids. It's probably the best movie I've watched that related to grief and one I especially resonated with. very surprised not alot of people watched it tho 😅
