Are there specific foods you feel are power foods? I think my nutrition and weight training are great, but I would love any “hacks” you found are great for energy!

Noticed I’ve gotten better at running by running at higher heart rates (zone 4). Felt like zone 2 kept me in a safe zone. My knees/ shins are holding me back at the moment. Been using proper shoes since started and now I’m looking into strengthening exercises

I’ve been wondering this here recently. Even though I dropped my half time from 2:18 to 1:44 in 6 months doing 2 workouts a week out of 6 runs. Easy runs can feel very unproductive. Interesting to hear this perspective and wonder if maybe I should be doing more workouts.

when you say good proper nutrition what do you mean? like fueling enough or is there any advice you have for fueling around training or if you’d ever recommend training in a protein fasted state (only consuming protein prior to a workout)

Good info to hear. I’m training for my first half marathon and the training plan I’m following has 3-4 runs per week with Saturday bein the longest. Gradually increasing mileage week to week. A couple races sprinkled in there. And it says on runs to stay in Z2 or a “conversational pace”

What about during a training block - summer runs (living in TX) spiking HR but trying to keep paces going. Are you a beliver in slowing pace within HR zones or sticking with paces to get to a certain marathon time during training?

i feel like doing “easy runs” most of the time is good for beginners and building your base but if youre trying to get faster and have the base you gotta push yourself like youre saying

The slower miles are mostly allowing you to continue to train with lower injury risk. Im with you though, I almost always ran “too fast” when easy (~7:15-7:30), but have slowed down on those runs bc I’ve had multiple nagging injuries the last 2 cycles

Great video. I’m an exercise physiologist here in NYC and prescribe zone work to my clients all the time, and I test VO2. Would love to have you in and get an idea of how to work with some runners here and how to also use their VO2 data to optimize their training

Started running fast and got faster, slowed it down because that’s what the internet told me—slowed all my times down and made me a worse runner

Sorry. Not great advice for the over population. If it works for you. Great.

Solid advice. Solo runners who want to train for events out there should take note. If you’re not pushing and dieting right you’re gonna stagnate.

6:30 pace for 9miles straight is not beginner level. Maybe your max hr is in 210+ so 168 was easy pace for you. Any beginner trying even 7flat pace for 5 miles will stop after 5mins.
