@draleksandrabrown: 🧴 It’s not just about SPF on your face… your scars need protection too. If you want your scar to heal well and fade properly — it needs to stay out of the sun for up to 9 months. ☀️ As a dermatologist who does skin cancer surgeries regularly, here's what I tell my patients: 🔸 Scars lack normal pigment and structure 🔸 They’re more prone to burning and hyperpigmentation 🔸 Sun exposure can lead to darkening, thickening, or even permanent discoloration — especially on the legs Here’s how to protect them: ✔️ Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ (the higher, the better) ✔️ Even better? UPF clothing over the area ✔️ After your evening shower, apply silicone scar gel or tape ☀️ Scar surgery in summer? Cover with a towel outdoors + sunscreen underneath. Healing skin needs all the protection it can get.
