Jurors in Alicia Andrews' trial over rapper Julio Foolio's murder watched her police interrogation yesterday (Wednesday, October 29, day 6), and they heard a lot of stuff that typically would be redacted. Prosecutors asked Judge Michelle Sisco for permission to redact portions of the interrogation in which Detective Juan Ramos and Sgt. Aaron Campbell of the Tampa Police Department warn Andrews that she'll spend the rest of her life in prison if she doesn't cooperate and describe the conditions of prison. Prosecutors also wanted to redact statements from police about what a jury will hear and what jurors will think. They said generally defense attorneys request these redactions, but Andrews' lawyers want the statements to stay in. Judge Michelle Sisco in Florida's 13th Judicial Circuit was frustrated the issue wasn't raised before trial, and she said she didn't have time to listen to Andrews' interrogation and decide which statements to redact. She instead specially instructed the jury not to consider Ramos' statements, then allowed the entire interrogation to be played without redactions.

"You go to prison, you live the rest of your life with another woman and a cell the size of this room with a steel toilet in the corner with no door around it and a little tiny sink above it that is your life. Every single day for the rest of your life, you have a guard telling you when to get up, when to take a shower, when to go outside to a cage yard with giant walls, when they go back to your cell and when they go to bed, and the next day, they open the bars again, and the guard tells you what to do every part of your day. If you back talk, you get lit. You get put in solitary confinement. You get food taken away from you. You have no freedom again for the rest of your life. There's none. So whatever you did today, I hope it was fun. I hope it was the most fun you have ever had in your lifetime, because you're going to need those memories to carry you through the rest of your life. Because you won't make any more memories after today. Does that make sense to you?" You can watch more clips from the interrogation here @Meghann Cuniff and here @Meghann Cuniff.
