I relaxed my natural hair maybe 4 years ago and I straighten it once a month or according to what plans I have and when I tell you it has grown more in the past four years than it EVER has when I was strictly natural.

i finally realized that i was preventing heat damage but promoting breakage as a natural bc all i was comfortable doing were slick backs. so now i straighten my hair responsibly or wear and maintain knotless braids

w straight hair I’m more consistent with deep conditions, trims, oils, etc, and i leave it w/o tension. When it’s natural, after day 1 it’s a slick back until wash day. Bad!!

PLEASE use heat protectant it looks like your hair is damaged from either; not using one, not using a good one, using too high or heat or restraigjtening your hair instead of just washing it and starting over
