![‘Landscape Painting [Mine]’ [2025] by Julius von Bismarck @ juliusvonbismarck (IG) For the fifth work in his Landscape Painting series, Julius von Bismarck painted directly onto the walls of a historic mining site in Italy’s Brembana Valley. Using thousands of hand-drawn lines and hatches, he transformed the uneven quarry surface into something that resembles 18th and 19th century engraving. To preserve the temporary intervention, von Bismarck produced a large-format photograph of the site - a lasting image that stands as both documentation and artwork. The photograph is currently on view at Art Basel with @siesundhoeke, while the original mural remains on permanent display as part of “Thinking Like a Mountain”, a cultural program by @ gamec_bergamo (IG)](/video/cover/7517851960494656798.webp)
