I’m proud of you for putting yourself out there and reaching out for the grant. don’t stop. your work is so important involves modern pop culture AND African-American history. I hope you get a chance to visit the original quilt and this might be silly- but I think of quilting as such a spiritual practice, I think of the original artist’s Spirit and how tickled they must be looking down at you doing this project 🥺

omg this is so special!! Turn edge appliqué is not for the faint of heart either ❤️wanted to share I picked up a historical sewing book and saw some did turn edge by pinned the full piece of fabric down and cut as they went a inch or two ahead of their stitches. that way the pieces don’t fray or pucker as much
