The female characters in MHA are written pretty well. Especially the main ones. They have great character growth. I understand being upset with the designs, especially for the students but don’t say he doesn’t respect his characters lol.

I've been saying it for years now. If R&D can make a suit out of Mirio's hair that works with his quirk, they could have done the same for Hagakure. There's no excuse for that 15 year old girl to be running around naked except Horikoshi being a freak.

also the people defending this by seeing its needed when it literally isn't for example Hagakure people are like well ohh how else would her quirk work dude just change it for it to have an on and off switch and for it to be able to also make her clothes invisible for Uraraka my only problem is that he focused on it he didn't have to do that and Momo could've had like a special material that acted like her skin over her body like this is fiction if you can find a solution for Mirio you can for the girls

Things horikoshi can do: draw, come up with interesting concepts, parallels, and references to other media. What horikoshi cannot do: write women, fully commit to ideas, especially or serious topics. be normal about teenage female characters, NOT support a known convicted pedophile.

I mean these are all valid criticisms but it doesn't take away from the depth in characters like Lady nagant, Uraraka, Toga etc. These are brilliantly written characters and it's disappointing you can't recognise that

Horikoshi has done better for writing women than a lot of Mangaka. Is his aesthetic weird for dressing the younger characters how he does? yeah, I can't deny that. But Uraraka has a lot of awesome moments where she's not only relying on herself but not chasing after Deku to do what she has to, to be a good hero. Miruko is a badass top 5 hero who is ferocious and destroys her own body to get the job done. Momo has an entire arc where she struggles with leadership and ends up being really strong at the end. Toga is a center piece for the social standards of MHA's world. She's weird so she's shunned and it's only through her own expression of love and confession to those who she truly cares about does she allow herself to heal. Horikoshi may be weird in theory but in practice he's incredibly knowledgeable. Just think we shouldn't be so reactionary based on surface level themes.
