Their answers aren’t that ridiculous. The median wage for a full time worker in the US is about $62,000 according to Bureau of Labor Statistics. When you factor in every wage earner, including teens and retirees, it drops to about $45,000.

I taught in a school program for teens in foster care and/or on probation. They also had no clue what a real salary is. Every question in their math book that used real wages or salaries they would scoff at. It’s not just the rich kids. People need to talk to their teens about finances.
