I don’t think it’s necessarily a decrease in the writing of qualitative original literature, but rather a fault on the publishing side. Publishing houses are looking for what’s trendy, so even if they receive an authentic piece, they reject it simply because it does not cater to what ‘the people’ are looking for.

I rated a book so low yesterday because the first 80% was so good and the last 20% was like a rip off of 3 other popular fantasy books 😭
