as a fellow dyslexic girly. I hate reading out load. I sound just like this. I have had to get over my anxiety of reading out loud as I'm a teacher where I read children's books everyday 🤣

whoa ! I thought you were doing well without it but then with the overlay, I was like ohhhh yes. I hear it. I see it. that's so cool! I have never heard of overlays for dyslexia. can I ask why this helps?

I’m not dyslexic but I swear I can’t read out loud but I can read any book perfectly in my head.

Good on you for being brave and showing this. My husband has dyslexia and he says reading out loud is so daunting. I should get him to try the overlays.

I have dyslexia and irlen syndrome i have struggled with this my whole life it took 7 years to for teachers and specialists to realise what it was i was bullied my whole schooling because of it i used overlays a pink and blue into of each other, than i went at a Irlens specialist and got prescriptions classes made i have 3 different colours in the lenses. I physically can not read black words on white paper or white words on black paper as all the words/letters move move of the page ect.

I’m so confused. You seemed to struggle more with the overlay than without? I am genuinely curious! I also have dyslexia & dyscalculia so it intrigues me!!

Thank you for sharing this! Where can you get the coloured overlays from? I wear orange glasses (special tint), but I haven't had testing for a specific tint. I can't read for long due to visual stress, even though I am a teacher and read aloud... it's so hard!

are you sure you weren't misdiagnosed? sounds like you have irlens syndrome. dyslexia is often confused with irlens, also the exhaustion after reading is a prime symptom of irlens, along with the severe change in ability with the overlay. also visual disturbance without the overlay is a irlens symptom and not a dyslexia one

Overlays are for irlen syndrome not dyslexia. Very often confused tho as 50% of people with dyslexia have irlen syndrome. I have irlens without having dyslexia and I use a yellow overlay.
