I come from a Pentecostal background, and Mr. McCarthy repeatedly claimed that speaking in tongues was fabricated. I can assure you it is not. I’ve heard him in interviews and in church making mumbling sounds to mock speaking in tongues. I’m afraid he was blaspheming the Holy Spirit, which, according to Scripture, is unforgivable. I hope that I’m wrong. 😢

Grew up hearing my mom listening to him on the christian radio constantly. She’s said all these things. Every deficit I’ve ever had has always been my fault—my sin. Turns out as an adult I’ve been diagnosed with ADD, had depression my whole life, had genetic illnesses my whole life—but yea, it’s always my fault and my sin… same with my kids.

As I laid in a hospital bed recovering from my wounds my pastor asked me "what I did to make him so angry" yeah I mentally checked out that day. Officially left 2019 & wow life is so much better! 🥰

Only a couple of those things were explicitly said to me, but I definitely remember all of those ideas lurking in the background of the churches I attended and my Christian middle school. Memories: unlocked. Yikes. 🤦🏼♀️
