Rebuild 3.0 + 1.0 is the true ending for me. The anime ending and EoE were simply Hideaki Anno trying to complete the story while he was still having unresolved trauma, but Rebuild ending is him genuinely healed. I think that should be taken to account, especially when Evangelion is deeply tied to Anno’s personal wellbeing.
