Self diagnose is completely okay if you’ve done research and got some sort of teacher to help you, Some people don’t have the money (it’s different for everyone.), their parents don’t want them diagnosed with anything, or doctors aren’t doing their jobs. and also, some jobs in America won’t hire some people if it’s on offical paper

Like sorry that I THINK I have autism after doing research, I can't exactly afford the (for some reason) over $1000 dollar diagnosis (and considering that I'm a 20yr old and a woman it might not even come out accurate). Guess I'm completely fine since I don't have the money to go check 💔

i mean the icd-11 and dsm-5 are both on google (literal diagnostic material) so as long as you document your symptoms for 2 or more weeks and compare it to those to see if they line up then i think it's valid bc that's pretty much what actual doctors do, and if you don't have access to therapy for any reason or you're disgusted by your problems and don't want to tell anyone i think this would be valid

self diagnosis is completely valid as LONG as you do the research etc, some parents will NOT allow their kids to go to the doctor for diagnosis and some doctors REFUSE to diagnose people as well💔💔

As an like diagnosed autistic person, it does really hurt me when people just say “oh I’m self diagnosed autistic/adhd or smth else yk” and then they like show zero signs of it (and I don’t mean like my type of autism I mean like zero signs even ones I don’t show) like sure you need to guess you have a diagnosis to get one but without extensive research I really don’t think people should be labeling themselves with the diagnosis unless like stated before they’ve taken time to research it- things can happen where they just think it’s cool to have that diagnosis then put a really bad name on people who actually have it 😭 no hate ofc it’s just smth I have wanted to rant about and get the chance noe

Self diagnosis is valid for CERTAIN disorders or certain scenarios, i suspect i have BPD due to past relationships and how i ended up acting but am not self diagnosing, if i wanted to get diagnosed i couldnt cus my parents have no knowledge of any of my relationships and i'd get grounded if they learned, i've done research but refuse to get diagnosed in until it's by myself
