Yep-many primary care residency slots go unfilled each cycle. This is of course Reagan’s fault-state college tuition used to be largely covered by state taxes

Not saying there shouldn’t be more doctors, but remember supply and demand is a thing. And if salaries go down, you’re not gonna get the best and brightest people trying to go into medicine. Same goes for CRNA’s, NP’s, PA’s, etc.

We have enough specialists, but not enough PCP. Ie, family med, OB, internal medicine, and pediatrics, some may consider General surgery as primary care, but 80% of GS sub specialize so even then it’s not really primary care.

There is no such thing as a nurse anesthesia resident and therefore there is no funding for it.
