@marisakimmel: This weekend, I went to work. I’m a photographer and I was showing up to an all women’s retreat to document two days of soulful healing and play of thirty humans. As an empath I knew it would be emotional for me. A good practice of being by big emotions and not rushing in to fix them. Just to be a witness and create a safe space for others to express. What I didn’t expect was to be held too. To be offered a safe space back to me. When I was losing my hair as a kid, no one knew what to say to me to help me. I didn’t know what I needed or even what to say to myself! So I learned how to hold it all alone. The shame, confusion, anger, and the grief. I thought that healing meant being strong on my own. But I know now that I was never meant to carry all of that alone. None of us are. This is the kind of healing my younger self never knew was possible. I deserve this. You deserve this.
