I mean in a way yes songs like mantra and like Jennie have similarities to blackpink songs but I feel like the album as a whole is very different. Songs like Seoul city, handlebars, love hangover, start a war, f.t.s are songs we wouldn’t really hear from blackpink and her including songs that are in a way similar to blackpink songs I feel like represents her as soloist because it shows how versatile she is and how even the songs in blackpink represents her as a soloist.

If we’re being honest, like Jennie and ExtraL are too good to be Blackpink songs 😭 I can see how the style is similar to things BP has done though. Overall I was very surprised by Jennie’s versatility, most of the time her voice sounded very different from anything she’s done before. Need more RnB from her!

my problem with the album was that the songs are too short, a lot of them dont have bridges and it makes the songs sound too repetitive/incomplete. still loved the album though

i agree that this album isn’t innovate when it comes to its sounds and jennie as an artist but rose’s album was??? imo that album was the most derivative and inspired by other artists out of all the bp albums but ig we have different opinions lol

i disagree, I think she showed HERSELF completely unfiltered, formed her identity, she shaped this album with her own hands - produced songs, wrote the lyrics. I don't think it could've been more original and personal

ruby is for JENNIE, it literally shows how creative the team is. besides, if you're gonna compare it in BP's discography. it is literally different bcs they don't go to rnb and ballad THAT FAR. THOSE THREE SONGS ARE FOR INTRO TO SEEK ATTENTION BUT THE WHOLE ALBUM IS SOOOO SUPERB. VERY DIF TO KPOP.

I actually disagree, this album showed her artistry, and showed that she has what it takes to be a stand alone pop star. This was a great debut from Jennie.

You can’t compare “Like Jennie” or “Mantra” to BLACKPINK songs because those are HER songs hehe I don’t know if you get what I mean, but if you’re a real fan of Jennie like I am, you’d know her music reflects her. I mean, Jennie isn’t limited to BP’s style and that’s what makes her stand out.
