I remember being a 4th year apprentice with the boss doing a 9MW steam turbine and it's an anxiety inducing experience. similar looking panels and controls. just an angry boiler operator instead of a river

Why can’t you use the grid to help sync with the power plant? I kinda understand why it needs to match with magnetic fields and all that but is it possible to pull power from the grid to get that big hunk of copper to match the frequency? Also where are the contacts that connect to the grid. I was stressed watching this sync up. Lol.

Worked at a hydro plant for awhile when the operator didn't quite sync the generator online it would shake the entire building.
