Chinese takeaways are an institution in UK and an order wouldn’t be complete without a salt + pepper box ❤️🥡! 📍 Wok Inn, Sheffield (S12 3DZ) Note: the recipe for the salt + pepper seasoning makes 3-4 portions, so you can make extra and save for the future For the seasoning: 1 tbsp salt 1 tbsp paprika powder 2 tbsp MSG 2 1/2 tbsp sugar 1/2 tsp five spice powder, black pepper, garlic powder, ginger powder and chilli flakes 1/4 tsp Sichuan peppercorn powder and cumin powder Frying the chicken + chips: 1/2 container of deep fried chicken 1/2 container of fried chips 1/2 red onion (chopped) 1/2 white onion (chopped) 1 tbsp garlic (minced) 1 tbsp red chillies (sliced) 1 tbsp chilli oil @mamayuoil 1 tsp sesame oil Make the salt + pepper seasoning (apart from the sugar), blend and toast in a pan on low heat for a few minutes until you can smell the aroma. Then add the sugar and mix well. On medium heat, add onions and garlic to a wok with chilli + sesame oil, fry for 30 seconds. Then add the cooked chicken and chips with the red chillies, give it a toss.
