The families asking what went wrong? Kerrville? Hunt? Ingram? And who are the “champions”? The same officials who failed to warn residents in time? The leaders who turned down funding for flood preparedness? Are you receiving a championship trophy for the most catastrophic failure of all time? These communities are traumatized and heartbroken. We have questions that remain unanswered, and a failure of leadership at this level demands immediate accountability, not asinine sports metaphors.
