I see your point, but bibical literalism isnt necessarily taught anymore. As a Catholic, I am taught to believe God's himself in infallible, but that humans are. Therefore, not everything is to be taken literally.

This is a valid criticism. As an agnostic I can say that Christian’s answers to why the Bible is so malleable is because people use to justify their beliefs and greed. Ex. To support slavery they have to take verses out of the Bible and focus on the verses that so called supports it. It’s just a matter of supporting a verse and not mentioning the other and that’s why religion can be viewed as a dangerous.
