Visually impaired - Case in point Mr Comfort Munyapwa - February 2024. Charity Appeal - Hope for Zimbabwe Children (HFZC) visit to meet Chief Mutekedza and the physically challenged in need in Chivhu. On 20 February 2024 HFZC team made a follow up visit to Chivhu to meet Chief Andrew Zhakata (Mutekedza) and the needy.HFZC has been assisting Chief Mutekedza and the physically challenged since 2020. Case 7 *Family background* Mr Comfort Munyapwa is a 48 year old male who became blind when he was nine (9) years old. He resides in Chivhu under Chief Andrew Zhakata (Mutekedza). Mr Comfort Munyapwa is married to Erina Muronda who is also blind. Together they have three (3) children. The eldest child is in Kadoma doing grade one and has a visual impairment. The second child is attending Chivhu primary school ECD. The third child lives with Mr Munyapwa’ s aunt ( his mother’ sister). Mr Comfort attended Kapota mission and went as far as form 4 for his O level. *Economic background* Mr Comfort is currently unemployed, so is his wife. . The family survive on begging and donations in from well wishers.Chief Andrew Zhakata (Mutekedza) assist them whenever resources are available. *Social Challenges* The family faces a lot of social challenges everyday. Their condition make it difficult to socialise with others or to attend social events or gatherings. They are also among the marginalised members of society and find it difficult to raise money for the welfare of their children who need school uniforms , books and food. The situation is more challenging and dire due to the visual impairment. *Accommodation* The family were allocated a residential stand in the collaborative Chief Mutekedza and local council scheme to alleviate housing woes for the physically challenged members of Chivhu community. Since then they have not managed to find enough resources to build a comfortable house, like most of the beneficiaries of this scheme who are struggling with finding capital. The family thus live in a makeshift structure. *Assistance needed* Mr Comfort and Ms Erin need assistance with basic necessities like food, clothing, health care and school fees for their children. They also need assistance with money to construct a more habitable home and to sink a borehole for self help farming projects and also to ease water shortages. They find it difficult to fetch water and available sources when they incur shortages. Hope for Zimbabwe Children donated cash to the family. #hopeforzimbabwechildren #chivhu #charitywork #helpforadults #comfortmunyapwa #zhakataandrew #blind #borndifferent #visuallyimpaired #motivationalvideo #motivationalspeech #bekind #fyp #donate #fundraising #zimbabwetiktok
