Y’all don’t know how sheltered and entitled a lot of the ‘middle’ to upperclass New England kids (and adults) are. They think every house should look like a million+ dollar house because that’s all they know, and then they go out in the world afraid of average people. She panicked and hopefully will never get hired as a dog walker again.

First thing i was taught as a female never enter a house you dont know and never invite a stranger into your home, taught the same to my daughters. Its not just for your own protection but the other persons as well.

I understand she felt uncomfortable but she needed to communicate that rather than immediately escalating the situation. A polite “This is my first job and I’m a bit nervous, so I would prefer to wait outside if possible” would have cleared this up.

I was a full time rover sitter for all of college. I would have immediately assumed it was family but would ask where the woman on the account was (I.e. “where’s Lisa today? I’m excited to meet her!” And see the response from there. It’s part of our job and okay to be suspicious but not okay to incriminate someone if they have done nothing wrong

See I work on Rover and I always do a meet-up to meet the pet with the owner at a local park or something before I book anything. It’s a safety thing and Rover recommends you do meet-ups for new pets especially dogs.

I’d close door quickly and stand in front of it too, if a stranger just came in, and I have three dogs wanting to go out. Does not matter at all who the stranger is. I’m just preventing my dogs from being jerks at the door.

It's very weird that it wasn't communicated that someone would be there...I wouldn't have even entered the house with an unexpected man there. I do not blame her.

I think she’s completely wrong but why can’t they just drop the charges if there’s no evidence? I don’t think she’s wrong to go to the police if she felt uncomfortable but I don’t really get why kidnapping charges were the end result of someone walking into the police station and just telling a story.
