It's simple: breathe in for 4 seconds, then slowly breathe out for 8 seconds. The longer exhale helps calm your body by activating your vagus nerve, while the 4-second inhale allows you to take in smooth, calming breaths. I’ll be here to guide you every step of the way, so you feel supported as you learn. If you want to enhance your breathing exercises, you can also add diaphragmatic breathing, which helps fill your lungs more fully, or try pursed lip breathing, which makes it easier to absorb more oxygen.
