@sarahandspices: Replying to @Kate I can’t believe this even needs to be said… But you should never tell someone with food allergies that a food is safe for them to eat when it isn’t. Food allergies are serious. They can cause life-threatening reactions called anaphylaxis. This is when the body reacts severely to an allergen, which can quickly close the airways, send the body into shock, and become dangerous without immediate epinephrine treatment. It might seem like a small, funny joke to you, but it can be life-threatening for us. #foodallergies #allergy #allergies #glutenfree #allergicreaction
So that’s also illegal! To knowingly feed someone something they have told you they are allergic to is attempted murder.

can't be allergic to gluten, you can have celiac or an intolerance. you can be allergic to wheat but then gf bread also would be very bad.
either way the restaurant should try to accommodate but you also have to understand how you are inconveniencing the employees and other customers.

I know rushes can be bad, but we don’t need to kill people because of them. Jesus. All you have to do is warn them that it will be an additional wait.

I worked in fast food, and we would have to change our gloves if someone came in with a gluten allergy. why does an actual restaurant not have time to do it?

My boyfriend is Type 1 Diabetic. He's been given Pepsi or Coke instead of Diet and the amount of waiters/waitress that think we are being difficult over it or just don't care is kinda sad.

My mother in law snuck in raw tomatoe juices and seeds into a dish she served to me just to see if I had an actual allergy and not just an adversion to tomatoes. When my husband and my mom found the raw tomatoes in the trash my father in law handed over the camera footage. He filed for divorce the following day and 10 months ago she was convicted of felony assault and battery charges.

lots of places roll their eyes when I say "no tomato" because they think I just don't like it. I do not like them, but I'm also allergic.
"just pick them off" I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO
I should get the food that I ordered. I understand sometimes it's annoying and tedious, how do you think we feel having to constantly ask for "no (insert allergy)" so that we safely eat from your menu!?

Kate, honey, that would be attempted murder, or actual murder if the allergy is bad enough and doesn’t get treatment immediately. Do she really want those charges and years in prison?

sometimes when I go to this bento/ramen place, I'll order the miso ramen with tofu, just because I like the way they make it. I ordered it one time and it was a new person taking my order and they were the complete opposite from these stories. they went out of their way to make sure I knew the ramen wasn't fully safe from touching meat. (I'm not vegan and not allergic to any meat of any kind) I just thought it was nice of them to go out of their way like that and I wanted to add a positive story here 😊

This angers me because it happens to my husband all the time. He’s allergic to tomatoes so he orders a burger, no tomato. Half the time he has to send it back. It’s not a preference, it’s a allergy 🤬

this mindset is sooo weird. i always make sure to take care w dietary requirements. i have intolerances/allergies myself, and while they’re relatively mild i still understand how frustrating it can be. the only time it actually irritates me is w people who lie about allergies/medical issues when they just don’t like the food or cut things out by choice

So this can range from assault to attempted murder if you knowingly tamper with food or serve someone something they’re allergic to intentionally.
