Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has filed a lawsuit against Johnson & Johnson for alleging that they intentionally hid risk of Tylenol use and autism in children. Let me say this clearly again; the most robust data that we have available did not find a link between maternal use of Tylenol and autism in children. The best information we have stems from research that took 20 years to complete and included 2.5 million children. The Trump administration recently announced that they believe maternal use of Tylenol is linked to childhood autism. They used studies to support this claim which were overall weak and biased. In fact, one study, the Boston Birth Cohort even acknowledged that since their study had no control group that their results may have been biased towards the null .. meaning no actual association! This is wild to me given that this is the same state where I have had to tell pregnant women that their fetus will not survive after birth, but I can't do any intervention until they become so sick that their status becomes a life threatening emergency. This should tell you that this lawsuit is not about protecting women and children, it's about gaining political points before an upcoming election.
