What? You can’t pay taxes at your bank? I have. You don’t have to figure anything out, just make a payment on an account like a power bill.

I have a friend in Canada years ago that was in his 40s and had never filed a tax return. Canada third party's their taxes so if you've never filed Revenue Canada doesn't know you exist.

In Australia, unless you’re an independent contractor, your place of employment submits part of your pay directly to the ATO, so if you’re employed, you automatically pay taxes. If the ATO at the end of financial year decide it wasn’t enough, you get a bill to pay more (I had to pay $600 this year!) but if you paid too much they send you money back. You still have to “do your taxes” but These days there’s so much automation that it’s just reviewing and agreeing with the ATO records. Many years ago the most I got back was like $2000, but as my wage increased, even with more dependents, it’s been that I owe extra every year, and never get a return anymore. This year is the most I’ve ever owed. But other countries, particularly the US, seems to treat everyone like an independent contractor, where it’s up to you to pay all your income taxes at end of financial year. Which is generally thousands.
